Interesting facts about Varsity Lakes;

The politician and businessman, Thomas Blacket Stephens (1819-1877) acquired 6980 acres of hinterland in 1873. He called the land the Merrimac Estate.

In 1981 the suburb of Stephens was named in his honour, but in 2002 Stephens was amalgamated with neighbouring suburb of Andrews (and a small section of Robina) to form the new suburb you now know and love as Varsity Lakes. The project developer named the suburb, and at the time caused quite a controversy as the existing locals believed the history of the area was under threat.

Varsity Lakes is close to Bond University, the M1 motorway, Robina Town Centre and the Robina train station.
